Support the Federal Animal Research Accountability Act—HR 3295 Taxpayers have no idea how many animals are used in experiments funded by the U.S. government. But a new federal bill would change that!
Support the CARGO Act U.S. taxpayers are funding animal experiments overseas, with extremely limited oversight for how these animals are treated or how this money is spent. Ask your U.S. representative to support the CARGO Act to stop the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from funding these foreign animal experiments!
Tell Elon Musk and Neuralink to Stop Harming Animals! In August 2020, entrepreneur Elon Musk revealed that his Neuralink employees have implanted computer chips in pigs' brains. This San Francisco-based company has a long history of using animals—including monkeys, mice, and sheep—to conduct experiments that are supposedly aimed at allowing the brain to communicate directly with computers and machines. Please send an email to Musk and the other leaders of Neuralink and urge them to stop using animals and instead focus on human-relevant research methods!
Wayne State University: Stop Heart Failure Experiments on Dogs After more than 25 years, the experiments on dogs at Wayne State University have contributed nothing to treatments for patients suffering from heart failure or hypertension.
End Animal Suffering at Macalester College
At Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., animals are used in psychology classroom experiments. The animals are deprived of food or water, then placed in “Skinner boxes”—devices invented over 100 years ago. They must perform a variety of acts to get the food and water they needed to survive. Afterward, they are all killed. Such labs have been abandoned by leading universities like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Princeton. Write to President Suzanne Rivera and ask for this practice to end.
USA: Support Students with the Plant-Powered School Meals Pilot Act The Plant-Powered School Meals Pilot Act would provide school districts with resources to serve plant-based meals to students and increase access to non-dairy milk by removing current barriers in federal law. Please encourage your members of Congress to co-sponsor this important legislation!
Massachusetts: Increase Plant-Based Protein Options with the Bean New Deal The Massachusetts Senate is debating S. 922, the Bean New Deal, which would increase education around and access to plant-based protein sources such as beans, lentils, and tofu. Please urge the Massachusetts Senate to pass this legislation to improve public health across the Commonwealth!
USA: Upholding the Scientific Integrity of the DGA Process Plant-based diets are under attack! We need your help to stop efforts to undermine the recommendations for plant-based proteins in the most recent Scientific Report authored by the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.
